Photographing carbon products for an online store
Photographing carbon products for a premium presentation
Photographing carbon products requires special knowledge, experience and complete control over light. Carbon is a technically demanding material. It reveals every flaw and quickly loses its premium aesthetics if not photographed properly. Professional photography of carbon products ensures that the structure, texture and technical perfection of the product come to the fore.
To achieve the most optimal lighting for the products – meaning one light for all the different textures and finishes – there was quite a bit of adjusting the light and reflectors. I chose a gloss finish for the initial photo. And kept adjusting the light until I got the desired result.
To ensure that all five tubes were positioned identically, I attached the tubes so that I could swap them around. This allowed for really clear differences in the characteristics of the carbon tubes.
After the photography, of course, all the tubes were processed and retouched. I used the processing to emphasize the texture of the fibers.
How is professional photography of carbon products done?
Photography takes place in a controlled environment, most often as a studio photography, where we have complete control over the light, background, and composition.
The process includes: - analysis of the product and its use - selection of lighting layout according to the carbon surface - precise positioning of the product - professional photo editing with an emphasis on details
The end result is clean, technically perfect photographs suitable for the web, catalogs, advertisements, and presentations.
